What We Believe

The Church At Westerly believes what the Bible teaches:

  • The Trinity - God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit

  • The Bible - God's inspired word to people and his everyday authority for faith and spiritual practice; we trust the Bible instead of people's opinions.

  • Jesus - He is God and he is Truth. Fully God and fully man, born of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus lived a sinless life and willingly died as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people who by faith receive his gift of forgiveness and eternal life. After the crucifixion, Jesus was physically raised from the dead by God and ascended to heaven. He will return one day to gather those who have put their faith in Him to live with Him forever.

  • Church - The "church" is all Christians, past, present and future. It is expressed locally by followers of Christ gathering together to worship God, love others, serve others, and tell others about the joy of being in relationship with God.

  • Relationship with God - Forgiveness for the bad and wrong things done in life is the first step to relationship with God. Forgiveness is a gift of God that can be received by any person who places faith and belief in Jesus. This life-changing relationship gives people the power and desire to turn away from wrongdoing. Finding Real Life tells you how to have this relationship with God.

  • Believing is more than just a idea. It is faith - which is betting your life on the truth of Jesus. Whether you go to Heaven or hell is what's at stake. Accepting Jesus into your heart and life by faith while you are alive means you have His power and strength to live in this life and you have the unbreakable promise of heaven when you die. The Holy Bible calls this Eternal Life (John 3:16). If you refuse to put your personal faith in Jesus while you are alive, the Holy Bible says you are condemned to hell forever (John 3:18). Thank God you have the choice if you are reading this right now. Don't wait another minute. Click here: Finding Real Life
